How many times did Jesus appear after His resurrection?

image: wikipedia.org

Jesus appeared 12 times to different group sizes ranging from just one person to 500 people:

1) Mary Magdalene (Mark 16.9-11John 20.11-18)
2) the other women at the tomb (Matthew 28.8-10)
3) Peter in Jerusalem (Luke 24.341 Cor. 15.5)
4) The two travelers on the road (Mark 16.12,13)
5) Ten disciples behind closed doors (Mark 16.14Luke 24.36-43John 20.19-25)
6) All the disciples, with Thomas (excluding Judas Iscariot) (John 20.26-311 Cor. 15.5)
7) Seven disciples while fishing (John 21.1-14)
8) Eleven disciples on the mountain (Matthew 28.16-20)
9) A crowd of 500 (1 Cor. 15.6)
10) Jesus’ brother James (1 Cor. 15.7)
11) Those who watched Jesus ascend to heaven (Luke 24.44-49Acts 1.3-8)
12) Least of all Paul as though he was not living in the proper time (1 Cor. 15.8-9Gal. 1.13-16Acts 9.1-822.9, read all of chapters 22 and 26; 13.30-37; 1 Cor. 15.10-20Gal. 2.1-10):

  • Luke has no problem between Paul’s appearance and those made to the disciples in Luke 24, Acts 1.1-11. Luke records both types of appearances of Jesus to the disciples and to Paul.
  • “Last of all he was seen of me also” (1 Cor. 15.8).
  • “Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord?” (1 Cor. 9.1).
  • Others saw the light and heard the voice during Paul seeing Jesus bodily, however because Paul’s experience was post-ascension, it may be slightly different.
  • Evolution of a resurrection theory actually devolved from the accounts of the 40 days with the disciples to when Paul saw Jesus (Gal. 1.15-16).
  • “To reveal His Son in me” (Gal. 1.16,18) took three years following the Damascus road experience.
  • “And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man” (Acts 9.7). This presumes that Paul saw the man.

Now if so many people saw Jesus resurrected, is it really so hard to believe the saved will be resurrected at the consummation of the age of the dispensation of grace (the end of the mystery age of the church)?

  1. I Pray, I get down on my knees to Thank this good, good Earth for it’s many Sacrifices that we 7 billion people can find enough to eat today, to find another log for my fire-place to burn up^……That ALL of MY Children are guaranteed a FUTURE, these are the things I Pray for. I say FREE JESUS from that CROSS, and send Him on his way take down all of those crucifix’s and throw them in the Great Fire. Almost every-where I go I see the Image of that man just hanging there on that horrible cross, take Him down, free Him from that CROSS! And send Him on His way…..Freedom!

    1. Jesus is free we are not free. The only things that keeps Jesus Christ to continually suffer, is our non repentance and our continual sins. I have read several of your posts and it seems as though your are a faithful Christian. May God bless you this day and everyday!💕

      1. Thank YOU for that blessing, brother,Every breath I take today is a Blessing, I send Blessing’s YOUR way…..If living my life is a sin, I am guilty of that; tho I have taken a VOW to never, ever be tempted to lie, to cheat, to steal one penny from my brothers and sisters, I want to turn bombs into food on the table, if that desire is a Sin, let me know……

        1. Who is perfect? Who is without sin? We are all trying to live and sustain. The more we improve on our path and help others do the same, we can heal our world and bring more peace and love into these end times. But Christ is coming and he described the conditions of today a little over 2,000 years ago. Stay prayerful. Stay the path. God bless you!

      1. I like to think this way; that the Great Spirit just sits there on our shoulders a little nudge this way, and that to help us find our way in this life, to find the WAY of LIFE. The Way of Life is to just LIVE it and not Question it. Do not even think of spamming me brother, the last man to try that died with his POWER CORD wrapped around His Neck!

        1. I don’t know about the great spirit sitting on our shoulders but I know we all have a conscience, even if the conscience is temporary out of order, God can connect. As for now, I will say goodnight! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Peace out and goodnight sister!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  3. I hit 74 years today, I count myself lucky that my old Heart still beats for Me, that I can still carry in a log and manage to set it on FIRE…..That those stupid GOLD miners after their 1/6 ounce per ton of ore, have not yet stripped this Good, Good Earth to look like Mars, with it’s piles of ROCKS. No Forests No Rivers, No Streams to Flow with that Water Blessing….And this is the place we want to go To? Why not just Love and Care for this Home we have here? And so the Great Spirit Created Heaven and the Earth…..

    1. I see too many wrongs happening in our world. And, if we do not wait on God to right the wrongs, we could all take justice and vengeance into our own hands and become mass murderers. Loving and caring for this home on earth begins with loving one another and replacing greed with charity and humility. In other words, man’s spiritual presence has a great impact on where he dwells. Unrepented men and a pandemic of sinful and bad spirits continue to defile and make life uncomfortable.

  4. Great post!
I hope people search it out, and see the truth.
So many say the Bible and Jesus are a myth.. but how can they explain the prophecy’s fulfilled?
There is no chance the writers could have known the future without divine inspiration..
Your post makes for a good study!
    Thank you for sharing.

  5. Awesome post! The fact that Jesus is resurrected and that he resurrected so many others before he, himself was is a blessing and the reason we should be celebrating now and not just on Easter! I think I will probably re-post last year’s post. Thanks for the inspiration and the reminder that even during trials and trying times God can still resurrect us out of any situation—-even coronavirus! https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/rhemalogy.com/500. B;essings and peace.

  6. The number 40 is a mystery throughout the Bible. When Chris resurrected on the 3rd day, he walked the earth for 40 days before ascending into Heaven. He appeared to his Mother, the Disciples, the women of the church and I can find no reason why he would not have appeared to those that persecuted him, scourged, none believers and those who at the crucifixion mocked Jesus and told him to save himself.🙏
